An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers an electric shock when needed to restore a normal heartbeat during cardiac arrest. It is designed to be used by the general public, even without medical training.
Anyone can use a defibrillator, even without specific training. The device guides the user step by step with clear voice instructions. However, first aid training (CPR/AED) is strongly recommended to maximize survival chances.
Defibrillators should be installed in accessible, visible, and signposted locations 24/7. Priority locations include public buildings, companies, sports facilities, shopping centers, train stations, and any place with high foot traffic. The device should be reachable within 5 minutes.
All public establishments (ERP) in categories 1 to 4 are required to be equipped with a defibrillator (phased in between 2020 and 2021). Some category 5 establishments are also concerned depending on their activity (care facilities, train stations, enclosed sports facilities, multipurpose halls, mountain hotels and refuges). Any installed defibrillator must be declared in the national GéoDAE database. When you buy from us, we take care of this declaration for you.
