Everything you need to know about defibrillators
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers an electric shock when needed to restore a normal heartbeat during cardiac arrest. It is designed to be used by the general public, even without medical training.
Anyone can use a defibrillator, even without specific training. The device guides the user step by step with clear voice instructions. However, first aid training (CPR/AED) is strongly recommended to maximize survival chances.
Defibrillators should be installed in accessible, visible, and signposted locations 24/7. Priority locations include public buildings, companies, sports facilities, shopping centers, train stations, and any place with high foot traffic. The device should be reachable within 5 minutes.
All public establishments (ERP) in categories 1 to 4 are required to be equipped with a defibrillator (phased in between 2020 and 2021). Some category 5 establishments are also concerned depending on their activity (care facilities, train stations, enclosed sports facilities, multipurpose halls, mountain hotels and refuges). Any installed defibrillator must be declared in the national GéoDAE database. When you buy from us, we take care of this declaration for you.
A defibrillator requires regular maintenance: monthly checks of device status, replacement of pads (every 2-5 years depending on the model), battery replacement (every 3-5 years), and an annual check by a professional. We offer maintenance contracts tailored to your needs.
The price of a defibrillator ranges from €1,000 to €2,500 depending on the model and features. To this cost are added consumables (pads, battery) and maintenance. We also offer rental solutions with maintenance included, starting at €50/month.
Both analyse the heart rhythm and only deliver a shock if necessary. A fully automatic AED delivers the shock by itself after a voice warning: the user does nothing. A semi-automatic AED asks the user to press a button to deliver the shock. Fully automatic devices are often preferred for the general public, while semi-automatic ones leave control to the user.
Yes. Our rental offer starts at €50 excl. VAT per month and includes the device, maintenance, consumable replacement (pads, battery) and exchange in case of failure or after use. It is the ideal solution to equip your premises with no upfront investment and a fixed monthly budget.
A defibrillator lasts around 8 to 10 years. Its consumables are replaced more regularly: pads every 2 to 5 years depending on the model (or after each use), and the battery every 3 to 5 years. A maintenance plan anticipates these deadlines and keeps the device operational at all times.
